On the 25th of July 2012 Derek Byrne, along with his father Ned and Brother Edward, accompanied Lt.-Col. Charles Artaud Byrne to Ballinacor estate where they visited the spot were Fiach Mac Hugh O’Byrne was Executed in 1597.
This was the first time that the 88 year old Charles had stood on the spot where his famous ancestor lost his battle against the English.
The photos show Derek Byrne with estate Manager Declan Byrne who was born at Ballincor estate, Charles Byrne with Ballinacor House in the distance and Charles standing on the spot where Fiach Mac Hugh O’Byrne was exectuted in 1597.
