Finte O’Broin – Official Gathering Event
Supported by Wicklow County Council
Finte O’Broin and the Clans O’Byrne of Leinster and Ireland are proud to announce plans for The Gathering event on Saturday July 20th at Ballinacor Co. Wicklow.
Sir Robert and Lady Goff, the current owners of Ballinacor, the ancestoral home of the O’Byrnes of Ranelagh, have agreed to host a re-enactment of the capture and exectution of Fiach Mac Hugh O’Byrne in 1598.
The re-enactment will take place at 3pm on Saturday the 20th of July 2013. Those who are interested in attending are asked to meet at the Jacobs Well Hotel in Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow at 2pm for registration and a short briefing.
This is a free event and is open to all Byrnes in Ireland and abroad.
Last year we were delighted to be granted permission by Sir Robert and Lady Goff to visit Fananieren, the site of Fiach Mac Hugh’s exectution in 1598 with Lt. -Col. Charles Artuad Byrne, the direct descendant of Fiach Mac Hugh and the current O’Byrne of Ranelagh.
We also plan to unveil a memorial plaque at Fananieren to permanently mark the exact place of Fiach Mac Hugh O’Byrne’s execution. We have invited a prominent celebrity who bears our name to unveil the plaque and detials of this will be posted once confirmation has been received.
We also intend to present the 2013 recipients of the Merit Order of the Raven with their insignia at this event on Saturday the 20th of July.
All Byrnes and interested parties are welcome to attend this official gathering event. For further details, please contact Derek Byrne at derek@clanbyrne.com
We look forward to seeing you all at The Gathering.
