Dublin is the capital city of Ireland and throughout its history it has had two Lord Mayors named Byrne.
The most recent of these was Catherine Byrne who was Lord Mayor of Dublin in 2005. She is now a Fine Gael TD (member of the Irish Parliament) representing Dublin South Central.
The most famous of these was Alderman Alfie Byrne who was Lord Mayor of Dublin for a record ten times between 1930 and 1955.
The current Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin is Fine Gael’s Councillor Clare Byrne of Dublin South Central, daugther of Catherine Byrne TD.
