Finte O’Broin and Clan O’Byrne of Leinster have been criticised recently for promoting the false use of titles. This has not been our intention and some errors of judgement are now in the process of being corrected.

We intend, however, to continue with the system of “Guardianship” of a name or family pedigree as we see the importance of this in maintaining the history, culture and identity of our noble name.

The changing nature of genealogy and fresh evidence means that guardianship may change in light of superior pedigrees.

It is our express intention to act as custodians of ancient lines of the O’Byrne so that they may be passed on to future generations.
